“Negotiate your own writing goals and audience expectations regarding conventions of genre, medium, and rhetorical situation”.

Our writing goals in this course were to complete the assignments for all four genres, meeting all the criteria of each genre. This process began by analyzing each genre with our genre analysis homework to gain the knowledge of what is required in our own final drafts.

Below is an example of my lab report genre analysis. By doing this analysis, I was able to see past students work and compare it to the rubrics on each genre. This process helped me get an understanding of what a good paper should look like, things to avoid, and things to aim for. Throughout the semester, I got better at this course learning outcome because we did many of these genre analysis’ and many peer reviews, which all improved my ability to achieve my writing goals.
