“Enhance strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment”.
This course learning outcome followed me throughout the semester. Each assignment we completed, required lots of reading. Whether it was researching a specific topic, reading the project requirements, or reading comments from our professor, we were always reading to complete our assignments. This required us to enhance our reading strategies to be more efficient and look for important information first.
In terms of drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment, we received comments on almost every assignment we handed in. The comments helped me self assess and improve for each of the following assignments. My skill in this course learning outcome increased throughout the semester because I was constantly looking at comments, taking them into consideration, revising, and improving on my mistakes for the following assignments.
For instance, below are two examples of the peer review we did in our groups. I both received peer review from my group members, and provided them with peer review as well. This process benefitted me because I was able to take into consideration comments form 3 different group members, and then implement those comments into my final draft which would be submitted and graded. I feel that my final drafts always showed immense improvement from my first drafts, and that is thanks to our peer review sessions.
